Both the cities of Anoka and Champlin allow residents to have outdoor recreational fires. Here is an overview of the ordinance:
Burning shall be allowed between 9 a.m. and midnight.
The fire shall not exceed three feet in diameter and a flame height of approximately two feet.
Only clean wood or charcoal may be burned. No burning of trash, leaves, or brush is allowed.
Only approved starter fluids may be used to ignite the fire.
A person knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishing equipment must constantly attend the fire, and an attendant must supervise the fire until the fire has been totally extinguished.
Fire extinguishing equipment such as buckets, shovels, or garden hoses must be readily available.
The fire must not be conducted within 15 feet of any structure or property line, or combustible material.
Outdoor burning must be contained in a fireplace/fire ring.
